A Few Tips

Make sure you use the keyword “foodcontest”

This keyword will allow voters to find your contest submission. Of course, you can also add additional keywords to help customers find your design.

Publish your design on a product

T-shirts, sweatshirts, mugs... it’s easier to judge your design when it’s included on a product. Regardless of which you choose, make sure your submission is the star.

Remember copyright restrictions

Make sure you don’t include any artists’ names or pieces of work, as they may be protected by copyright.

Appeal to everyone

This is an international design contest. Therefore, we suggest using simple and understandable language. If you’re opting for a typography design, we recommend using English.

FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

How can I take part in the Design Contest?

To participate, you need to be registered with Spreadshirt. You can submit as many designs as you like, but only one of them can make the top 10 of our preselection. All designs uploaded before the end of the contest period need to be tagged with the proper keyword. We’ll be relying on the time and date of the upload – not when it was cleared. The applicable keyword tag can be found on this site.

The contest kicks off at the beginning of the month and runs for two weeks. The jury will then take a few days to decide on their top 10 favorites. Do you want to stay in the loop with the contest and know when it enters the next phase? Keep checking this page – all the info will be on top.

How do I make the top 10?

Since there are thousands of design submissions, we rely on an expert jury to select the ten best designs for each of Spreadshirt’s platforms (.net and .com). This means that there will be two top 10 lists!

The jury assesses the designs according to these criteria:

  • Does it come out well on a Spreadshirt product?
  • How relevant and suitable is the design for the contest?
  • Is the design really original and unique?
  • Is there an apparent degree of creativity?

The jury awards points on a scale from 1 to 5 for each criterion. The design’s total score is based on our three-member jury’s grade for each of the criterion. The designs will be assessed without further context, meaning the designer name, tags or upload dates are unknown to the jury members. The top 10 will then consist of the designs that have scored the highest. A designer will only be able to have one of their designs reach the top 10.

How are the winners chosen?

There’s an independent vote for each of the two platforms (.net and .com). The jury decides on the top 10 designs for preselection, and the winners are selected via a public poll carried out on Spreadshirt’s Facebook pages. A link to the contest poll can be found on this page. We’ll be sending an email to the designers who have made the top 10. Whoever gets the most votes wins! So, if you’ve made the top 10: urge your followers to vote for you!

What can I win?

The public vote will decide on the three winning designs among the top 10. First place wins $500, second place $250 and third place $100. The winners will be notified via email, and they can be sure that their designs will be promoted in Spreadshirt’s marketing initiatives and on Spreadshirt’s homepage.
